One package · both computers

Two-PC Remote

A simple button for reaching your other Windows 11 desktop privately, with your local microphone and clipboard available inside the remote session.

Do this on both PCs

  1. Right-click the downloaded ZIP and select Extract All. Open the extracted folder.
  2. Double-click START HERE - Install Two-PC Remote.cmd.
  3. Choose whether this PC may also be controlled. Press Enter for Yes if you want two-way control.
  4. If Tailscale is missing, review its third-party Terms and Privacy links before setup downloads anything. Press Enter to accept, then approve the one Windows administrator prompt.
  5. Setup verifies the official installer's Tailscale Inc. signature. When the browser opens, sign in using the same account on both PCs. Repeat on the second PC.
Then open Two-PC Remote from the Desktop. Select the other computer. The first connection asks for the remote computer's real Windows account password—not usually its Windows Hello PIN.

What to expect

Microphone is automaticYour local microphone is redirected through Microsoft Remote Desktop. Voice is not sent by copying and pasting text.
Clipboard stays onText and files supported by Remote Desktop can continue to use the normal session clipboard.
Tailscale must stay connectedIt supplies the private route. Setup enables unattended mode on a prepared host so it can normally return after a restart.
Other Tailscale PCs still workSetup does not remove peers, change your tailnet, or prevent another permitted computer from controlling this PC.
One approval groups the workIf Tailscale is missing and host access is requested, its install and host preparation share one administrator approval. If another administrator signs in at that prompt, setup still authorizes the original user.
Your Windows user is authorized safelySetup adds the original user to Remote Desktop Users only when needed. Undo removes only a membership that setup recorded adding.

Windows 11 and one edition limitation

This public package supports an up-to-date Windows 11 installation. Setup quietly confirms that the included Windows .NET Framework runtime is version 4.8 or later.

A PC receiving a Microsoft Remote Desktop connection must run Windows 11 Professional, Enterprise, or Education. Windows 11 Home can control a compatible PC, but Microsoft does not include the Remote Desktop host in Home. Setup detects Home and does not install an unsupported workaround.

Possible SmartScreen message: this independent Two-PC Remote build is not code-signed. If this ZIP came from the expected Two-PC Remote website, choose More info, confirm the app name, then Run anyway. Do not do that for a copy from an unknown source.

After a restart

Keep Tailscale installed and signed in. Its unattended mode normally reconnects the prepared PC before a local Windows sign-in. Tailscale device-key expiry or an organization policy can still require a later browser sign-in. If a PC remains offline, sign in locally once and run OPTIONAL - Allow this PC to be controlled.cmd again.

Undo or remove it

OPTIONAL - Undo remote access changes.cmd restores the recorded Remote Desktop, microphone-policy, firewall, and setup-added Remote Desktop Users membership state.

UNINSTALL - Two-PC Remote.cmd removes the app and its known shortcuts. It keeps saved PC choices and setup/audit records by default. Type DELETE when asked for full local cleanup.

Normal removal and full cleanup both leave Tailscale installed and signed in. They also keep its unattended/incoming-connection setting and, for a fresh install, its MSI automatic-update policy, so other devices and software are not interrupted.
